How long does the Ford manufacturer warranty last?
Every new Ford passenger vehicle comes with a 3-year or 60,000-mile warranty, confirmed directly on Ford's own UK site (commercial vehicles get 3 years or 100,000 miles instead). Roadside assistance is included free for the first year, and can be extended for a further 12 or 24 months free of charge if you have your car serviced at a participating Ford dealer.
Paintwork and corrosion defects caused by manufacturing faults are covered and repaired free of charge. Ford Direct Used passenger vehicles come with a 2-year warranty.
What Ford's warranty doesn't cover
Ford's warranty covers manufacturing defects only. It excludes damage from factors outside Ford's control — airborne contamination, storm damage, stone chips, scratches, and the use of unsuitable cleaning materials — as well as normal wear and tear, damage from neglect or improper use, and unauthorised modifications.

Ford Protect, Ford's own extended warranty for new vehicles, can only be purchased at the time of your original purchase — up until the vehicle's first date of registration. If you want extended cover, you generally need to decide before you drive away, not later.
Ford Protect — Ford's own extended warranty
Ford's own official extended warranty product is Ford Protect. For new vehicles, it can extend your car warranty to 4 years/80,000 miles or 5 years/100,000 miles (commercial vehicles to 4 years/100,000 miles). Ford describes Ford Protect as the only Ford-approved warranty for Ford vehicles.
Ford Protect's mechanical and electrical cover includes the engine, transmission, catalytic converter, front and rear axles, steering, and braking system (excluding brake pads, discs, shoes, and drums, which are wear items). It also covers air conditioning, heating, factory-fitted Ford audio systems, airbags, and the full electrical system — including engine control, central locking, ABS, and electrically adjusted seats.
When you renew a Ford Protect policy, cover includes AA Roadside Assistance, MOT Test Insurance, and Multimedia Cover as standard, alongside the mechanical and electrical warranty itself.
Ford Protect also excludes wear-and-tear parts and labour, damage from neglect, modification, or racing/rallying use, and bodywork, paint, glass, upholstery, and interior trim repairs.
Ford Protect for commercial vehicles
If you drive a Ford Transit, Transit Connect, Transit Courier, Transit Custom, Ranger, or Fiesta Van, Ford Protect's commercial vehicle extended warranty can enhance your cover to 3, 4, or 5 years with unlimited mileage, and includes AA Roadside Assistance for the duration. This warranty begins once your standard manufacturer warranty has expired.
Keeping your warranty valid
Servicing must be carried out within 1,000 miles or 1 month of the specified service interval, using the correct parts and fluids, with your service record completed and stamped, and invoices retained.
