How long does the Vauxhall manufacturer warranty last?

Every new Vauxhall comes with a 3-year warranty, confirmed directly on Vauxhall's own UK site: unlimited mileage for the first 12 months, then capped at 60,000 miles for years two and three. Vauxhall's commercial vehicles (Movano and Vivaro) get the same 3-year structure but with a 100,000-mile cap instead of 60,000.

One year of roadside assistance is included, provided by the RAC. Paintwork is covered separately for 3 years against manufacturing or material defects.

Electric vehicles: Vauxhall's EV battery warranty runs for 8 years or 100,000 miles, is transferable to a new owner, and guarantees at least 70% of the battery's original capacity throughout that period. Vauxhall's own terms note that battery degradation can range from as little as 10% within the first three years up to 30% over the remaining warranty period, depending on use.

What happened to the Vauxhall Lifetime Warranty?

Vauxhall's "Lifetime Warranty" was a real programme, but it's no longer offered. According to Vauxhall's own terms, it was available on a limited number of vehicles between August 2010 and January 2015. Where it applied, it covered the first registered owner only, up to 100,000 miles, and required an annual visit to a Vauxhall Authorised Repairer to keep it active (this specific annual activation requirement was removed as of November 2020, though routine servicing is still required). It excluded Movano, Vivaro, Combo, and car-derived vans. Since January 2015, all new Vauxhalls have come with the standard 3-year/60,000-mile warranty instead.

What's not covered

Vauxhall's warranty excludes normal wear and tear (including tyres), damage from accidents, misuse, or alteration, damage or corrosion caused by the environment, chemical treatments, or aftermarket products, and issues arising from third-party repairs or non-Vauxhall accessories.

Vauxhall's own Extended Warranty

Vauxhall sells its own official Extended Warranty, available for cars under 8 years old with fewer than 80,000 miles, valid 12 months at a time. There are three tiers:

• Complete — covers most mechanical and electrical parts
• Standard — covers a wide range of mechanical and electrical parts
• Essential — the most affordable option, covering only the engine, transmission, and drivetrain

Repairs use genuine Vauxhall parts, branded Mopar (Vauxhall's parent company Stellantis uses this parts brand across its group).

Keeping your warranty valid

Vauxhall recommends servicing in line with its published service schedules. For the standard new vehicle warranty, cover is transferable to a new owner; the historical Lifetime Warranty was not.
