Warrantywise review: is it worth it?

Warranty24 · Updated July 2026

Warrantywise suits owners who want the widest cover available for an older or higher-mileage used car, and who are comfortable with a discretionary (non-insurance) warranty rather than an FCA-regulated product. Its plan tiers scale down in coverage as vehicle age/mileage increase, so check which tier your car actually qualifies for before comparing price.

What is Warrantywise?

Warrantywise has been trading since 2000 and has sold over 1 million warranty plans. It's operated by Warrantywise Limited (Company No. 07963594) and Warrantywise UK Limited (Company No. 14775172), both part of Wise Group Holdings Limited, based at The Rocket Centre, Blackburn.

Unlike an insurance-backed warranty, Warrantywise plans are discretionary: the company states plainly in its own terms that the plan does not form a contract of insurance or a regulated financial product, and that each repair request is considered individually, with payment not guaranteed. Disputes are handled by the company's named "Expert Arbiter," Edd China, a master mechanic.

Cover levels and what's included

Warrantywise offers six plan tiers, banded by vehicle age and mileage:

Plan Vehicle age Mileage Notes
04/40 Up to 4 years Under 40,000 Full feature set, includes in-car entertainment
06/60 Up to 6 years Under 60,000 Full feature set
08/80 Up to 8 years Under 80,000 Listed parts plan
10/100 Up to 10 years Under 100,000 Listed parts plan, drops "parts replaced in pairs"
15/150 Up to 15 years Under 150,000 Listed parts plan, most restricted tier
EV Up to 15 years Under 150,000 Drive battery available as an addition
EV+ Up to 4 years Under 40,000 Drive battery included as standard

Common features across most tiers: emergency breakdown cover, car hire and onward travel expenses if a repair is approved, zero compulsory contribution, and diagnostics. Optional additions include air bag system, air conditioning, driver assistance (ADAS), multimedia, emissions failure, MOT failure, and EV/hybrid-specific cover.

WORTH KNOWING

Cover narrows as your vehicle's age and mileage increase — the higher tiers ("listed parts plans") pay out only for specifically listed components, not the fuller cover of the entry-level tiers. Check exactly which tier your car qualifies for, and what that tier excludes, before comparing headline price against another provider.

The Price Promise

Warrantywise offers a price-match against a like-for-like quote from another provider, subject to conditions: the comparison quote must be dated within the previous 30 days, exclusive/restricted discounts (student, NHS, blue-light) aren't matched, and Warrantywise can refuse a match if it suspects fraudulent or unauthorised reseller activity. The promise can be withdrawn or changed without notice.

Making a claim

Warrantywise describes a three-step repair process: fault diagnosis is assessed, then (if approved) the repair is carried out, then the vehicle is back on the road. The company has a UK-based customer advice team with published sales and repairs opening hours, and a live chat option for starting a repair.

Frequently asked questions

Is Warrantywise regulated by the FCA?

No. Warrantywise operates on a discretionary basis and states directly in its own terms that its plans do not form a contract of insurance or a regulated financial product.

How much does a Warrantywise plan cost?

Warrantywise doesn't publish specific prices — cost depends on your vehicle's age, mileage, and the plan tier you qualify for. Get a quote directly for an accurate price.

Who decides if my claim gets paid?

Warrantywise's own terms state that authorising a repair is at the company's discretion. If you're unhappy with a decision, its named Expert Arbiter, Edd China, can be asked to review it.

Does cover reduce as my car gets older?

Yes. Warrantywise's higher-mileage/older-vehicle plan tiers (08/80 and above) are described as "listed parts plans" with more restricted cover than the entry-level 04/40 and 06/60 tiers.

What is the Price Promise?

A price-match against a like-for-like quote from another provider, dated within the last 30 days, with some exclusions — see the Price Promise section above for full conditions.
