How long does the SEAT manufacturer warranty last?
Every new SEAT comes with a 3-year warranty, confirmed directly on SEAT's own UK site: the first 2 years have no mileage limit, then the third year is capped at 60,000 miles.
Genuine SEAT parts carry a 2-year warranty. Paintwork is covered separately for 3 years, and anti-perforation (rust penetrating from internal cavities to the external bodywork) is covered for 12 years.
Electric and plug-in hybrid models: SEAT's fully electric (BEV) models get an 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty, guaranteeing at least 70% of original capacity. Plug-in hybrid models get a separate 5-year/100,000-mile battery degradation warranty — this one applies only to the first owner and doesn't transfer if the car is sold.

SEAT's own official Extended Warranty is sold and administered by Lawshield UK and underwritten by AWP P&C SA — the exact same administrator and underwriter confirmed on the Audi, Volkswagen, and Skoda extended warranty pages. This is the fourth Volkswagen Group brand on this site confirmed to share the same extended warranty infrastructure.
Two different SEAT extended warranty products
SEAT offers two distinct extended warranty products, worth telling apart:
- SEAT Extended Manufacturer Warranty — must be requested when ordering a new SEAT, before registration. Extends cover to the end of the 4th year/75,000 miles, or the 5th year/90,000 miles, whichever comes first. Same cover as the original manufacturer warranty, no claim limit, no excess.
- SEAT Extended Warranty — for existing owners whose car is 3 years or older, or whose original warranty has already expired. Three tiers (Essentials, Standard, Plus), 12 months per policy, underwritten by AWP P&C SA as above.
What's not covered
SEAT's warranty excludes damage from failing to act on warning lights, poor or missed servicing, improper use, motorsport activities, and damage caused by non-SEAT-approved parts or accessories. Normal wear and tear is not covered.
Keeping your warranty valid
Servicing must be carried out within 30 days or 1,000 miles of the manufacturer's recommended intervals. The manufacturer warranty is automatically transferable to a new owner if the car is sold.
Frequently asked questions
How long is a SEAT warranty in the UK?
3 years — 2 years with no mileage limit, then capped at 60,000 miles in the third year.
Does the SEAT EV battery warranty last as long as the PHEV battery warranty?
No, it's longer. Fully electric models get 8 years/100,000 miles; plug-in hybrids get 5 years/100,000 miles, and that one only applies to the first owner.
What's the difference between SEAT's two extended warranty products?
The Extended Manufacturer Warranty must be requested before your car is registered and extends the same cover to 4 or 5 years. The separate SEAT Extended Warranty is for existing owners whose warranty is expiring or has expired, with three tiers of cover.
How long is SEAT's anti-perforation (rust) warranty?
12 years, separate from and longer than the main 3-year manufacturer warranty.
